Jane, I agree with Eris... Laura gave us such good memories... I speak for myself too.. would like an update of Laura and Nate...
You can always go to Laura's myspace for an update. You can send her messages there, etc., and read all about what is going on with her and her husband. Good luck to them in their future endeavors.
I heard that Laura auditioned for Brigadoon. Any information on that?
-- Edited by Buzzy Bee at 15:43, 2008-08-23
From what I know, Brigadoon has been postponed, hopefully not cancelled. I think this forum is an appropriate place to post information about Grease, YTOTIW and alumni of both the Broadway and tv shows. Why shouldn't we post what we want here about those involved at one time or another?
Most of the threads tend to go off on tangents anyway. Let's not make this a "must do this or that" forum. Let's keep it friendly as it has been for well over a year.

If that's the case Bill why didn't Laura get renewed?
They offered Laura the tour with Nate, but for less than the going rate for tours. She declined as she has some work here already as well as she didn't want to tour.
Laura had a year contract, but she wasn't the only cast member not being renewed.
We all love Max and Laura, but...Updates ...should be kept in the "Other Danny and Sandy Thread," and these rest of the Boards should be dedicated to the current Grease cast...
I disagree. This is a forum about Grease, not just about the current cast. And Laura is not just any other Sandy, she was the Sandy for one year on Broadway. In my opinion, she has been the best leading lady Grease has ever had.
If anybody deserves their own update thread, it is Laura (& Max). After all, they won the reality TV show, that means more people voted for them than anybody else.
Otherwise, using your logic, are we going to delete the Taylor Hicks section on Sept 8, and ban Soul Patrol?
Greaser Bill
I sure hope not!!
Well hear we go Bill! In my opinion, Ashley is the "best leading lady" Grease has ever seen! But everyone knows that I am an Ashley Fan!
I checked it out for you ... here are some thread to name a few.... I stopped there for now....

Nad...I still think they should be in the "Other Danny and Sandy Thread."
According to the Minnesota newspaper, Laura didn't take the tour because the Grease company was "stingy".
Wow! I just read the Minnesota Article that D&B posted. I bet Laura would take the statement back about being "stingy" if she could. Probably not the best comment to have published.
accept a Laura update and Max update... it is logical and they were there before Asheley and Derek.... and as I mention in a previous post Asheley and Derek had there update and did not even put a foot on broaway,,,,

Sorry Nad, Ashley started her broadway career July 24, 2007, Grease premiered August 19th, 2007.
You know what Nad, Ashley is the only one of the other contestants who got a Broadway job just months after the TV show. I think she has proven her ability to play the part of Sandy in Grease and she is great at it.
Dont want to be rude but read the thread... we are aguing about Max and Laura having there own update on that site... and as for Ashely dont worry I like her very much and I will go and see the show in December... because of her... sooo

Yes, Ashley is doing great in the role of "Sandy." Just ask Jim Jacobs! He thinks she is wonderful, and in my book, that means plenty!
I have always loved Max and wish that Ashley would have had the opportunity to play Sandy to his Danny, but it didn't work out that way. Oh well I guess I will just have to settle for another 6 month contract on Broadway for Ashley. Sigh

Laura & Max were not renew because the producers figure after one full year, they have almost exhausted the supply of Grease fans living near or willing to travel to New York to see Grease. One year of attendance that rarely dipped below 90 % is a record that speaks for itself. The producers had probably hoped Max & Laura would join the Grease National Tour to tap the rest of their fan base, who are only willing or able to see them locally.

I might agree with you after I see her perform in person, especially if her contract is renewed longer than 6 months and if Grease is nominated for Tony Awards again (if that's allowed).

Greaser Bill
Grease was only nominated for the Tonys by default. Everyone knows that! Ask Mr. E.

Where do you get your information Bill. Are you a Producer for Grease? This is an interesting statement!

Shows can only be nominated in the year they open. I am positive the reason for Max and Laura not renewing has nothing to do with attendance and their fans.
Grease does well and has been selling well thoughout the year or so it has been opened. Let's see what it does when the tourist season slows down. Let's hope it continues to do well.

Yes, you're right D&B...Grease will go on! Has nothing with Max or Laura renewing or not renewing.....
Me too! Though it was wonderful to get to see Ashley as "Amber" in "Hairspray" this past year, I am so looking forward to seeing her as "Sandy!" I know that when I am watching her and Derek on the stage, the wait will have been well worth it! I can't wait!
News flash for all of you Grease fan... we ALL LEAVE IN THE PAST AT A CERTAIN POINT ... because Grease is the past that still leave thru the future.... and as far as am concern I do not live in the past cause I like Ashely

Of course we look back at the past! Remember good times, learn from our mistakes, etc. The past helps make us the people we are today. Ashley is the shining star that she is today in "Grease" because of the wonderful experience that she had in "Hairspray." We all take what we learn from each experience we have and allow it to shape who we are. But we live in the present and must remember that too!

Ashley getting the part of Sandy has nothing to do with her experience in Hairspray, it has everything to do with fact that the powers that be wanted to take advantage of the fact that she had a lot of fans from the reality show who would be willing to pay big bucks to see her. Don't be surprised if Ashely's contract doesn't get renewed if Brittney Spears of some other big star wants to take her place.

I didn't say that Ashley got the part of "Sandy" because of being in "Hairspray." I'm saying that Ashley has used the wonderful experience of being in "Hairspray" to continue to grow as a performer. Everyone gets better and better in their jobs as they gain experience. I am a better teacher today because of what I have learned from teaching in years past. As she plays more and more roles, Ashley will learn from them and build on her knowledge as she moves on to other roles. Every good actor does! And Ashley is already wonderful as "Sandy." But she'll use what she learns from playing "Sandy" when she portrays other characters. And from the wonderful reviews and comments that Ashley is receiving from the press, fans, and the powers at "Grease," it WOULD shock me if Ashley's contract was not renewed.

Kristen you are one smart lady! Ashley experience in Hairspray had a great deal to do with her getting the role in Grease. She got rave reviews in Hairspray and also showed the Grease Producers that she had what it takes to be a "lead" on Broadway. Trust me, Jim Jacobs loves her int he role.

Yes, you're right D&B...Grease will go on! Has nothing with Max or Laura renewing or not renewing.....
And has really almost nothing to do with who is appearing in it, as many folks want to see Grease because they are familiar with the songs, story or movie. It's a great show for the tourists! While we love individuals in the show, a number of people don't really know any of them.

Thank you, Shadi! Ashley would have done wonderfully as "Sandy" too had she come directly from the "Grease" show. But being in "Hairspray" gave her a wonderful opportunity to keep growing as a performer. Plus, it gave her fans a great opportunity to see a wonderful actress in a great show! I loved her as "Amber!"

Yes, and I think that the people who disagree and say so need to move on. It's frustrating to see the stars of shows being judged like that. And why would you want to be on a board about a show if you are not happy with the show's stars? I would never go on a message board for a star I wasn't a fan of and say negative things. If I wasn't a fan of the star, I wouldn't go on the board in the first place.
