News flash for all of you Grease fan... we ALL LEAVE IN THE PAST AT A CERTAIN POINT ... because Grease is the past that still leave thru the future.... and as far as am concern I do not live in the past cause I like Ashely

Of course we look back at the past! Remember good times, learn from our mistakes, etc. The past helps make us the people we are today. Ashley is the shining star that she is today in "Grease" because of the wonderful experience that she had in "Hairspray." smile.gif We all take what we learn from each experience we have and allow it to shape who we are. But we live in the present and must remember that too!

-- Edited by Kristen at 20:57, 2008-08-23

Ashley getting the part of Sandy has nothing to do with her experience in Hairspray, it has everything to do with fact that the powers that be wanted to take advantage of the fact that she had a lot of fans from the reality show who would be willing to pay big bucks to see her. Don't be surprised if Ashely's contract doesn't get renewed if Brittney Spears of some other big star wants to take her place.

I didn't say that Ashley got the part of "Sandy" because of being in "Hairspray." I'm saying that Ashley has used the wonderful experience of being in "Hairspray" to continue to grow as a performer. Everyone gets better and better in their jobs as they gain experience. I am a better teacher today because of what I have learned from teaching in years past. As she plays more and more roles, Ashley will learn from them and build on her knowledge as she moves on to other roles. Every good actor does! And Ashley is already wonderful as "Sandy." But she'll use what she learns from playing "Sandy" when she portrays other characters. And from the wonderful reviews and comments that Ashley is receiving from the press, fans, and the powers at "Grease," it WOULD shock me if Ashley's contract was not renewed.

It wouldn't surprise me at all.

I'm sure Ashley's contract will be renewed! You're absolutely right Kristen!

-- Edited by Shadi Ladi at 21:28, 2008-08-23

Yes, and I think that the people who disagree and say so need to move on.  It's frustrating to see the stars of shows being judged like that.  And why would you want to be on a board about a show if you are not happy with the show's stars?  I would never go on a message board for a star I wasn't a fan of and say negative things. If I wasn't a fan of the star, I wouldn't go on the board in the first place.

Guess what? No one really cares who you think should be here and who you think shouldn't-except of course your fellow Ashley lovers. lol I've been here since the show started and I don't expect to leave anytime soon. I don't have anything against Ashley, I just wouldn't be surprised if her contract wasn't renewed if they could get someone higher profile to take her place. The powers that be obviously wanted to take advantage of Ashley's fan base when they gave her the part of Sandy and if someone else could sell more tickets once Ashley's fans have dryed up they will give the part to someone else-hence the six month contract rather than the full year. It doesn't mean she isnt talented but it also doesn't mean she was any more talented than Laura. Don't be so sensitive as to try to ban people from posting on here that want to talk about Laura. I would love a link to any of the reviews that have posted in the press singing Ashley's praises. I have only seen press releases and reviews from her fans.

That Girl!

You are one of those people that need to move on. You have nothing positive to say, and no one really needs to hear your drivel. MOST of us (not all) are very tired of it. I'm sure you have your fans too, but I'm not one of them! Have a good day!

Wow you really do have a sense of self importance don't you? Do you really think that you get to decide who moves on and who doesn't? Trust me, I'm not going to loose any sleep over the fact that you are not a fan of mine. I don't expect to have "fans" and I don't expect to get beaten up over the fact that I wrote that Ashley is not immune to being replaced-but I can live with it because I could care less what you think-obviously you can't say the same. wink.gif

It's hard to compare Ashley's Sandy to Laura's Sandy because their approach to the characters is so very different.  Ashley's Sandy comes off as more self-assured and less shy than Laura's.  Is one better than the other?  Not really.  They're so vastly different and yet they're the same character.

I like Ashley and Laura equally and have seen them both perform the role.  I have also seen them both perform outside of Grease.  I think any quibbling over who's better is basically just "noise" because I honestly feel there is no "correct" answer.

It's okay to have your preferance - especially if you've been watching said performer for years and years.  But let's try not to discount someone else's preferance.

I drive in NYC all the time and by that I mean I drive into Manhattan, since I live in NYC I am very used to it. I prefer to drive rather than take the bus or train.

I guess when you are used to it, it doesn't seem all that scary. You just can't go very fast crosstown!

It's also a shorter trip for you. If I lived right there I might drive. But it's easier to take the train than fight traffic on the highway. I can read a book on the train not if I'm driving

Yes, on a good evening, I can get into the city in less than 20 minutes. Going crosstown is another story altogether!

I listen to the radio or a cd and just grin and bear it.

Kind of far to go if you don't stay over but I guess if you don't live to far from the bus terminal, it's not so bad. I have done that kind of driving in one day, going up to Albany - even going down to Atlantic City is almost three hours from here.

Yeah, it's a long trip.  I have to go to Maryland next weekend and I am not looking forward to it.  Thankfully, I don't have to drive.  But I have driven to Baltimore.  It's about three hours on a good day.

No, I'm northwest of Wildwood.  Wildwood is on an island off the coast of NJ.  I live about 15 minutes from the PA border.  If you were to look at a map of NJ and see where it dips in on the PA side. Tthat's around where I live.  A drive to NYC can take about two hours with traffic.

I drive twice a year to va beach to see my son, it's a 9 hour drive, but I don't mind.
he is moving to Pensacola next year, a 16 hour drive. I'm not sure about doing that.

Getting down to the bus station is a short walk from the theater or a cab ride. Port Authority is a big place but there is a lot of help so it's really not hard.

MUCH easier than taking kids on a field trip. Of course, I have taken 33 kids on a field trip to Manhattan on the subways! How is that for a challenge?

No worries greasefan. We New Yorkers are really a friendly lot. You wouldn't have trouble getting around the city and getting back to your bus.

Kristen,
My parents once missed their bus in NYC because they were on the wrong side of the street. I still am confused, so I'll leave it at that. Now you got me thinking about that!
My hubby says he won't take the Megabus, because he is not familiar with it. So I am on my own with the next trip!
