"This forum has so many different kinds of people contributing I think it would be fun to see what professional stage productions we as a group have seen.
Just list the titles and note the one you consider the best experience for you. I'll keep track of the replies and tally them and then post the list and totals for everyone to see."
It can be found on the early pages, about page 22 or 23 (thereabouts). I note it because the replies were both surprising and interesting and newcomers might find it fun to add their lists to the major list compiled.
Since recent posts have dwelt some on different viewpoints, including those of critics and reviewers, it is important to see how many different theater-viewing experiences are represented on this list. Everything from, "Grease is my first show," to longer lists by those who have been around longer or in a position to more easily be included in the stage activities.
No wonder there are so many different ideas. No wonder it is difficult, if not impossible to agree on the quality or relevance of what we see. To announce to the readers that any one of our opinions is the one that counts the most is not defensible.
At this stage of the production, I, like several others who wrote rather frequently earlier on the forum, are either less interested or find the focus of our attention drifiting away to other shows, other casts, or other things altogether. As several have already written, some of us now stay more in the background, often mute, reading and noting what others write. I find some posts interesting, some irrelevent to my interests, some (particularly when they get wrapped up in their own personal world and write repeatedly of their own activities) a waste of time to read. More often than not, when I post now I do so using the private message option on the forum or in some cases direct E Mail.
But the forum has been fun, for me somewhat more in the past than lately, and I thank those whose posts make a daily reading of the forum a habit saince May 2007.
I don't know how long I'll stick around, even in the background, but that is ok too. That's what life is like more often than not.
It can be any professional production right? Doesn't have to be on Broadway?
When I was a kid, my parents took me to Wolf Trap alot. We saw (that I can remember):
Brigadoon Music Man Oklahoma
That's all I remember, but I was a kid.I loved all of them.
As a teen or adult, I saw either at the Kennedy Center, Warner or National Theatres:
Cats (confused me) Ragtime (loved it) Chicago (loved it) Mamma Mia (loved it) Les Mis (my father explained the story ahead of time or else I might have had a hard time following it. As it was, I liked it alot)
Arena Stage:
Streetcar Named Desire (liked it, but the guy playing Stanley didn't fit my perception) Miracle Worker (it was ok)
On Broadway:
Beauty and the Beast (great) Grease (not the current revival. It was fun)
Philadelphia: Bye Bye Birdie (with Tommy Tune, Lenora Nemetz , Susan Egan, Steve Zahn, and Marc Kudish) Les Miserables Phantom of the Opera
California: All Shook Up (with Derek, Sabrina Sloan, and Barry Pearl)
Florida: A Tale of Two Cities (with Derek)
New York: Miss Saigon Wizard of Oz (with Rosanne) You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (with Anthony Rapp, Roger Bart, and Kristin Chenoweth) Cinderella (with Eartha Kitt) 42nd Street Gypsy (with Bernadette Peters) Hairspray (six times. Five with Ashley) The Pirate Queen Xanadu (twice) Mamma Mia Les Miserables Altar Boyz (with Chad) The Drowsy Chaperone (twice) (with Bob Saget) Grease (six times) Chicago (with John Schnieder) The Little Mermaid Legally Blonde (twice) (with Kate) Curtains (twice) (with David Hyde Pierce) A Catered Affair (with Tom Wopat) Young Frankenstein (with Megan Mullally)
I think that's all of them but I feel like I'm forgetting some. I also have a BA in Fine Arts, which, at my college was under the jurisdiction of the theatre department.

It was so nice to log on and see you had posted. I was reading over your posts on "Grease Grosses" that I had been so impressed with, when we first joined the Forum in June. I was wondering where you were, and what you were thinking about the numbers since that time. You had written that it would take a certain number of weeks at a certain percentage, for the initial costs to be recouped - and to talk about profits, etc. If you have any thoughts presently, I'd love to read them.
I'm also wondering, if any of the original members here, have any ideas or thoughts as to Taylor's replacement. How close to his departure date will they announce the new Teen Angel? Someone had said that his poster would come down as soon as the new Danny and Sandy were announced, and that did not happen. When will it be replaced? (I have friends going to see the show next week, and I'm hoping it will still be up and they'll get to see it.) Thanks in advance for any insight/opinions. (We "newbies" really have learned quite a bit about the Broadway Theater Community over the last few weeks, and I appreciate the education.)
Now, back to the topic of this thread - in no particular order - just pulling them from the recesses in my brain!
Les Miserables Cats Miss Saigon Hair Jesus Christ Superstar Smoky Joe's Cafe' Phantom of the Opera Death of a Salesman Menopause the Musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Coat Jersey Boys Grease
It's funny, looking over this list, three of the four productions I cared the least for, are from about the same period and I can see reflections of what was going on in my life at the time. Miss Saigon, Hair, and Jesus Christ Superstar. I also didn't care for Cats. Picking a favorite is just too difficult. All of them had high points. (Sort of like Taylor's concerts! Too hard to pick the best one!)
How close to his departure date will they announce the new Teen Angel? Someone had said that his poster would come down as soon as the new Danny and Sandy were announced, and that did not happen.
If they stunt cast there should be an announcement in the next few weeks. If they don't stunt cast there might not be any sort of announcement.

Instead of theatre, I tend to spend my spare time on sports (as a participant or a spectator). This may change as I become more mellow with age.
Moreover, I have stopped watching professional sports because I am sick of the overpaid crybaby professional athletes steroid cheaters. The only sport I still watch is the Olympics. Therefore, with limited spare time, I may not be visiting this board for a while.
I'm with you Bill. I love high school and college football. I watch as many college games on the weekend that I can, from Thursday night on ESPN to Saturday night. Just happen to have 2 tickets to see Ohio State this season and probably will go down for more and try our luck getting tickets. They are also about $100 each but the games are 4 hours long and make for a great fun day, and better if you win.
I've seen only on show on Broadway, but have seen some in Boston and touring shows elsewhere, in no particular order:
Dancin' (this was my one Broadway show) Man Of La Mancha Riverdance Tommy Fiddler On The Roof Phantom of the Opera
That's all I can think of off the top of my head, though I think there's more. I was in "The King and I" in high school, but I'd hardly call that professional
