Wow! This is news. Taylor must have done so well for them that they know they can't find another TH for Teen Angel, so they're going with a different character, and bringing in another guy with a huge fan base. Pretty smart move. IMO
From Natalie Hill's Blog (Mormon In Manhattan)
"this guy.... ace young (american idol finalist--taylor's year)
will be joining GREASE (otherwise known as the american idol revolving door) as kenickie on september 7"
LOL they're going to need to add another forum here :) I just posted that same news in the main forum but knowing Ace's fans he's going to need his own section!

I liked Ace on Idol, and think his CD is actually quite good. In a way, however, this move really puzzles me. With a new album out, its odd to me that he would want to tie himself down to Grease, rather than find a tour where he could open and promote the CD and reach new fans with his music. But then, being a TH fan has taught me that what makes sense to me has nothing to do with anything!

Exactly! I know just what you mean! I stopped trying to second guess Taylor a long time ago.

No need to tell you why I'm posting here. Someone needs to open up a new thread, for sure.
I'm really excited about this for Ace. Yes, he has a great CD out, but it doesn't get the airplay as it's on an indie label. So, all of this publicity can boost sales, while at the same time, the show will prove that Ace really is talented.

I think Ace's people may be trying to line up a tour for him and this Broadway stint will give them a few months to do it. His time as Kenickie is scheduled to end on January 18th. I'd love to see him tour in '09!

So cool! I'm excited for Ace getting this role and it will be great publicity for him before he tours. I'll keep my eyes open for when Ace comes to my area. I always loved him and enjoyed him at the AI concert very much. Ace is gorgeous I wish I could see him in this part. I love the back to the 50's look on Ace and I know he'll be very successful in this role.

Aragall -- I love your avi!
I like it, too! Speaking of passing the torch from Taylor to Ace.....I thought this picture of them together was symbolic of that. Not to mention that I just plain enjoy looking at the two of them. GREASE has been wonderful for Taylor and his fans. I hope it's just as great an experience for Ace and his fans.

Welcome Linny4Ace,DC Pam and djtino224, glad to have you on board. Ace is going to be wonderful as Kenickie.Looking forward to sharing your Grease experiences with us !
Hi everyone!! It's to bad that the timing for Ace starting and Taylor leaving couldn't have overlapped a little bit! I'm sure they would really have enjoyed doing a couple shows together!!

Wish Ace was Knicke when Taylor was still there - it would be a S5 reuinion. Kind of blue about Taylor leaving, got a little used him being there. However, Ace is going to be terrific as Knicke and that makes me happy!!!!!
