I agree with D&B.. Derek and Asheley did not need to pass another audition for the role.. Grease you're the one that I want last almost 3 months... dont you think it is long engough?
I don't think that anyone is saying that they thought Derek and Ashley did need to audition again. I think we all agree that the "Grease" TV show itself was the audition and that both Derek and Ashley deserved to play the roles that they are playing now.
Yes, Ashley had already auditioned for quite a few weeks on YTOTIW, so she needn't audition again. They already knew her. If you are talking about a portfolio, that's one thing, but a resume is a different thing.
I am not saying anything against either Ashley or Derek. Just correcting an assumption about an actor's resume.
D&B you didn't understand what Shadi Ladi was saying, so I don't feel there was any need for a correction. Pinkfan (along with many others) knew exactly what she was saying.
I think we all agree that ... both Derek and Ashley deserved to play the roles that they are playing now.
We don't all agree. Ashley had the second most votes, so she deserves to take over the role of Sandy from Laura. But for the man's side, Austin Miller had the second most votes. To be fair, he should have been offered the role of Danny before 3rd place Derek.
I am not particularly an Austin fan (I liked Max best). I just want to be fair.
If that's true, I am very surprised. During the TV show, Austin said "nobody wants the role more than" he does. Austin's father even cried on camera talking about it.
And there have been numerous comments from Austin since the show ended suggesting that he really wants to distance himself from Grease. Now, for all we know, it could all be "cover". Him simply saying he doesn't want to have anything to do with the show when he really does. That is commonly used to hide disappointment. But I, personally, lean toward believing that he truly does want to stay away from it.
Not to pick on Austin but he is an actor. Every comment he made could have simply been just him acting. What if he never truly wanted to play Danny but wanted the exposure that the show provided? It's a possibility.
Anyway, what's done is done. Austin not only has a show in the NYMF but the possibility of a Broadway debut with Trip of Love. He has plenty to keep him busy.
