They did that in Philadelphia in 2003 during the last season at Veterans Stadium. They were selling the seats and people could come pick them up after the last game. Also, in February 2004 they had a silent auction at the Wachovia Center (where the Flyers and Sixers play) and they auctioned off stuff like the retired number banners (Mike Schmidt's went for over $10,000), the president's desk, and other such stuff. They were also selling boxes of infield dirt and Nexturf as well as pretty much anything that said "Veterans Stadium". If they can make a buck - they will.

Well, Taylor couldn't have picked a nicer bunch of people to have made his theater debut with. I thought there would be jealousy and resentment, but they went out of their way to make him feel welcome. I wish for nothing but the best for all of these people and look for them to do bigger and better things in the past, especially Kristen ... what a sweetheart.
I hope if NBC does another reality show, they lose the stupid nicknames, like "small-town" Sandy, etc. I have been so impressed by Derek and how he presents himself. None of that personality came through during the TV show.

Easy to be nice to nice people. I am sure all the people associated with Grease feel that way about Taylor. I know I feel that way about his fans!
Wow, that's so good to hear. The "idol" fans seem to get a bad rep sometimes because of their 'enthusiasm.' I know we swarm our favorites, but it does make a good audience at the same time.
So, Greasers - I guess I am now officially on board. The Ace ad is out, he's officially starting this week, my ticket problems are being resolved by his ever-so-super 'team', and all is well on Planet Ace.
...Then in the video of L & M's final show, at the end where Taylor would ordinarily be playing the harmonica standing in between the two of them, he went over to the side of the stage and stayed there playing instead. It was obvious he wanted them alone to be the center of attention, and you can see Max motioning to him, calling him over. I thought that was such a telling moment for both Taylor and Max, as they were looking out for each other, at such an emotional time.).. .. .I'm so glad that this site survived the early days of Taylor's run. I'm glad that the "Greasers" hung in long enough to realize what was happening because of trolls and troublemakers, and that they gave his fans a chance to share some Soul Patrol mania with the "Grease" family.
This Grease fan is grateful to Taylor for playing his harmonica to the side at Max & Laura's final curtain call. By giving M & L the limelight alone at that special moment, Taylor is clearly a true gentleman. Although the Soul Patrol brought some "interesting" baggages (or nasty trolls) along when you first joined this forum. Over time, it has become obvious that you're really very nice folks. This Grease fan hope you will visit the Grease forum often after Taylor's departure or at least update us on Taylor's new ventures either here or in the main Grease forum. Greaser Bill

Thanks Greaser Bill ~~ although I was only able to post recently, I've enjoyed reading most of the comments in the Taylor Hicks thread. As I said earlier, I do plan to check in from time to time to read comments on how the show progresses. Thanks for letting me visit.

And vice versa D&B , I feel the same about the Grease fans,we've shared some really great ideas, thoughts, videos and recaps on this forum. Music brings people together in ways that not much else can.I'm thankful to be able to share that love of music with others.
Here's a little diversion to stave off the sadness.....A little DANCING QUEEN. I just love Taylor's sense of humor. And Melanie is too cute in this video. All these people had such great chemistry!
Aragall I love you..........forgot about this one. Sure made my day!
And I love every TH fan, Grease fan, Ace Fan tooooooooooooo!!!
Thanks for welcoming us and making this site so much fun! This certainly has been a very special time with great memories to last forever. Sorry I'm just a mushy kind of person and have enjoyed seeing Grease and Taylor loving every minute of it
From pearlpattie at the BB - who was one of the group of 30 at Sunday's show(s) -
"I loved seeing how the whole cast has grown so close to him....at the Sunday matinee barricade the guy who plays Sonny was leaving the show and gave Taylor a huge hug goodbye, they all say wonderful things about him, Frenchie said she'd do this job for free....LOL"
D&B - I'm assuming that it was Jose' who played Sonny on Sunday, and that's who she's talking about. He really is such a nice guy. He was very sweet at the NESP talkback in July. Sweet and funny - that's a great combo! Please pass on our thanks to him for being so nice to Taylor (and to the fans at the talkbacks.)
Yes, Jose was not doing the Sunday night show and this was his goodbye to him. When I spoke to him last night, he nothing but nice things to say about Taylor, which I can attest to because he was lovely both times I met him.

There was another mention of Jose' and Taylor after the matinee on Sunday - and there's a picture with the post - if you want to take a look. (Unfortunately, it's an obstructed view - but you can still get the "vibe" of what's going on.) It's in the "Grease" thread on the Boogie, under the title "Taylor's Final Night, Unexpected Tears and Cheers" (something like that LOL) Anyway, I can't get the picture over here, but here's Diane's post explaining what's going on.
"This is not a great picture, but it was a cool thing to watch. The actor Jose Restrepo, who plays Sonny, (he is super!) played the matinee, but did not play the evening show. Anyway, as he was leaving the theater, he walked up to Taylor, I guess to say goodbye, and gave him a big ole bear hug. This shot was just before the bear hug."

Wish I could see the picture (better even get it!)

First, thank you very much, Tay4me for bringing over the picture for me. Second, thanks to Azure for making me aware of it. It makes me smile. Jose is a very real person and so is Taylor. Talented but not putting on airs as if they are better than the rest of the world. He genuinely likes Taylor and wanted to say so long for now to Taylor. Who knows when their paths will cross again.
You can't see Jose's face, but the body language tells the whole story for the both of them; no caption necessary.

This picture was great to see. When Sonny came up to Taylor I was standing right in front of them. Taylor was autographing a couple of things for me. Sonny's arm is across my face, but baby, I was there. I know Taylor will miss all his friends that he made while performing in Grease.
Thanks to everyone on this board for being so helpful and kind. I love this board. I do not plan to disappear either. Entering this board will keep me up on what is happening in Grease. I hope to return to New York after the first of the year. I love New York. I love the play "Grease". Kristen and I got to meet also. A friend of mine arranged it for me. She is a lovely young lady and is as cute as a button. She will be staying on until January. Kristen, if you come in on this board I want to tell you thank you. Showing me around the backstage area leaves me with a lot of great memories. An old Kentucky gal doesn't get backstage often.
Why is henrysmom here pretending to be 2 people? Oh yeah. Dumb question. Thats what chrolls do best. You should pick out one or the other and stick with it. You chrolled around as henrysmom 4 a long time. You probably should just stick with that name. Stockardfan is just like henrysmom. You dont even try to make them different. Theyre both stuck up posers. Id just ditch stockardfan and be henrysmom. It a shame you lower yourself to hang out with jove & her imaginary friends. Sometimes you almost seem nice and even human. They drag you down into trolldom. . KarenP, I dont have anything to say about you other than your attitude is even nastier than jovis. Jovi and all the other characters rolled up into Deb. How many of the new names that are on the member list here belong to you. Its really pathetic how youre trying to make us believe you have all these people following you around. Just like the way you comment on your own blogs as 7 or 8 different nutz. What did poor chris daughtry ever do to get stuck with you 3. Chicaboom, poser taylor fan. We might as well stamp chroll on your behind too.
LMAO. It's important to laugh at pure ridiculousness sometimes. It's equally as funny as the hypocrisy of a person who, with 987562 different names, and pretending to be a whacko Taylor fan, (whacko, yes, Taylor fan....not even close) continuously harassed people here, even picking out specific posters to harass again and again, while these posters ignored them time and again, but in vain because there was no end to the harassment until the name was finally banned. Yeah, nobody remembers that. As if.
