I just wanted to share my report from tonight's show of "Grease!" First, I have to start by saying that I was going to "Grease" to see Ashley as "Sandy." She is my absolute favorite, and I was looking forward to seeing her in the show. However, sometimes in life, things happen that can't be prevented. Poor Ashley was performing in the matinee today and hurt her hamstring during the cheerleading scene. She was so sweet that she actually told the stage manager that she needed to perform since I was coming. I was so touched by this, but I am so glad that she did what she had to do and took care of her injury. She ended up going to the emergency room, but she even tried to call me on her way there. She is such a sweetheart! She also arranged for Derek to give me and my roommate, Elizabeth, the backstage tour. I just love Ashley and will come back to see her as "Sandy!" My prayers are with her as she recovers!!! And no worries, I will continue to be her #1 fan!
So in the show, Allie performed as "Sandy." She did a good job, though of course for me, she couldn't compare to Ashley! She resembled Ashley, especially with the first wig. She did almost fall off of the soda fountain, which would have been horrible as there would have been two injuries in one day. But luckily, she was o.k. I did like Allie, but of course, she couldn't measure up to Ashley. Of course, she had no chance when it comes to Ashley's #1 fan.
Derek was incredible! I just loved him! I was in the first row, and he was right there in front of me many times. He was just a great Danny, and I blushed every time he was directly in front of me.
I really enjoyed the show overall! I think that the cast was great. Taylor was fun, and the other cast members were good (of course Ashley is the best though). Ace was there tonight too.
After the show, Elizabeth and I got our personal tour by Derek. While waiting outside to go in, we did see Jose, who was very sweet and posed for a picture especially after I said I was on the board with Dogs and Birds. Derek was adorable giving the tour. He showed us all around and explained things as we walked. I saw Ashley and Derek's dressing rooms but didn't get to go in. It wasn't all that small back there. We really enjoyed the tour, and we were so grateful to Ashley for setting it up for us! And yes, I think I have a crush on Derek. He signed my Playbill and pictures for me. I told him we were waiting for the Playbill with him and Ashley. He encouraged us to keep pushing for the posters!
I'm sure I'll remember more later, and if you have any questions, I will be happy to answer!
I will come back as soon as I can to see Ashley! In the meantime, I am praying for her quick recovery!
Such a positive thinker, Kristen! I'm glad you still enjoyed yourself! Enjoy the rest of your NYC trip. Are you able to go past the stage door tomorrow after the matinee? Or maybe before!!
Thanks everyone! Ashley is out the rest of the week--she won't be back tomorrow! I'm trying to post my pictures but I am having a lot of internet problems. Sorry! That's why my post took so long too!
So glad it sorta worked out for you tonight Kristen. Derek saved the day. If you're reading this Derek....Thanks for being such a "gentleman." I'm sure that Ashley appreciated your stepping in to help. These are the things people don't forget.
Kristen, I'm so sorry you didn't get to see Ashley, but I know you will be back. It sounds like Derek really stepped up to the plate though. What a sweetie!
Thanks everyone! I just hope that Ashley is feeling better! And I'll try to get more pictures up soon! The internet is in and out, and though I keep trying, the pictures will not upload. I wanted to share my Jose one, DandB, but I can't get it to work!

Thanks for thinking of me Kristen. I see Jose often but I can't get enough of his smiling face. I can wait, don't stress. We all want to see your pictures but we can wait until you can do it easily.
Was your show the one where Taylor played the cowbell? (I just left a post on the TH Forum from someone who works at the theater and said he played cowbell last night. The cowbell is, of course, a favorite of the SP, who love it when he grabs one during his tour shows!)
Glad Derek stepped in for you last night Kristen! I'm sure Ashley will be back soon. Look at the bright side. Now you plan another trip to NY in the fall.

I went back and read the cowbell post. He may have done it at the Matinee performance and not the evening. She says TODAY and not tonight. (Because she wrote the post at 1:09 a.m., I assumed it was the later show.)
ETA: Yes, it was the matinee. Another comment was posted on the BB.
From shirlanne: "I had friends at the afternoon show and they said he "played the cowbell" - I wish I had been there. Wonder what he will do today."
Kristen.........I'm sorry that you didn't get to see Ashley, but happy that you had a great time. The picture with Derek is darling.Looking forward to your other pictures !
My sister used to work for Milford Plaza in the administrative office. Too bad she's not there now when she's needed, LOL. Glad you had a nice stay. Right now is the 2:00 show and I'm telling you I almost jumped in my car and drove in to the City. I wanted to see if I could exchange my Sept.9th tickets, but so far, box office will NOT do that with Ticketmaster tickets. I am in a panic, but Ace's management is working out a fix for us. I'm just freaking to hold 4 tickets to a show I can't go to because of rescheduling, etc. If any of you have any pull at all, please let Ace and/or theatre folks know that Linny is trying to get things straightened out.
