My NYC trip 9/13

I went to New York today to see Mama Mia; something my mom pushed for us to put together two days ago. We got to the city around 11, ate breakfast, shopped then headed to the Winter Garden Theatre. We saw the play and I have to say it was great; anyone who wants to know more, PM me (keeping this strictly about Grease). I wore my sneakers today, which came in handy.

After Mama Mia, I high tailed it to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre to see if I could catch Derek, Ashley and Ace. I got there with no time to spare! Ashley was standing in the center of the stage door area and she walked over to say hi to me! I told her how I missed seeing her a month ago. This confused her, because she had not missed a show then. I had to explain that on Aug 16, I heard that Jim Jacobs came to the show. She commented that he talked back stage for about 45 minutes and she and Derek couldn't make it out to the stage door. I told her I was OK with that and I understood. She signed my playbill from a month ago and moved on to a person that was standing next to me. She agreed to one person that she would be in a photo with them. I did the " ooh ooh" dance and said, " can I please get a picture?" And sure enough, I got a picture with Ashley. I told her that I am on the Grease board and that Kristen mentioned last week how concerned she was of her injury. She said she felt bad that it happened that way; I believe the words she used were "something snapped" in the matinee. I asked how she is feeling now and she said "I'm doing fine". Off she went to the center.

Ace came out! I took a picture of him and he walked right over to me! No one was standing around me to take my picture, so no photo with Ace this time around. I told him why I was there and that I didn't get to see him perform. He asked if I'll come back and that he'll be there until January. Of course I will!!! He touched my arm and I melted inside! He is a sweety!

Ace, Will and Ashley took off in the SUV together. I never got to see Derek cry.gif

It's 1:45 in the morning and I'm a bit tired. I'll post my few pictures tomorrow evening. I have a meeting at work @9am and then I work all day!

Congrats on meeting Ace... he really is a sweetheart.  And, as you have seen... a toucher.  Be sure you get one of his famous hugs next time!

I mentioned that Ace is a sweety, but I didn't mention anything about Ashley!! I'll blame it on my time of posting my trip! Ashley truly is what you see; a kind, friendly and sweet individual. And even more beautiful in person!

Greasefan, I am so glad you were able to meet Ashley!  smile  She is such a sweet person, and I'm so happy that you had such a great experience with her!  I can't wait to see the picture!  I'm glad that you met Ace too, and of course, you have to go back to see him in it!  I did read on here that Derek was sick yesterday.  I'm happy you had such a fun trip!

I'm so glad that you got to meet Ashley! Yes, she is a beautiful lady inside and out. I'm glad you got an explanation as to her meeting with Jim Jacobs after the show the last time you went. Sometimes the actors have no control what goes on after the show, and sometimes can't make it to the stage door.

Thanks for the post Greasefan. I'm glad you had a great time! Yes, Ashley is "what you see, is what you get" and that is awesome! It's so nice that she's not moody and you always know you'll get her happy demeanor! Plus she is so responsive and accommodating to everyone no matter what the circumstance. She remembers those who have treated her well and that is a very special attribute! She's a star inside and out!!!!!!! smile.gif

You're so fortunate that you can get to Broadway. I was in NYC a couple of years ago but we didn't have a chance to see any plays with two teenagers wanting to do other things.

All right, I have two photos to share! I need to get a photo with Ace; I'm getting depressed that there was no one around to take it (other than Ashley and Will). I'll have to go back before Ace leaves!!

I forgot to add that we took a cab from dinner to Penn Station. My first cab ride! In the cab was a TV. Halfway into the ride, there was a Grease commercial. The big catch was that Ace is now starring in the show. Clips were shown when Laura and Max were in it. In a previous post, it was mentioned that this seems a bit odd. And I have to agree! As much as I love Laura and Max, it was odd to see them in the commercial and not be able to see them on broadway currently!

Yes, Ashley and Derek should definitely be in the commercial!

Hi greasefan!  I was there on the 13th also!  I'm actually in your pic of Will, Ace and Ashley.  I'm in the black shirt with the purple purse.  I wish we would have been on the other side to take your pic with Ace!

I have a couple of pics from the day.  It was a great one!  We went to the evening show.  Ace was so good as Kenickie.  I knew the singing and the dancing would be good, but I wasn't so sure about the acting.  But, he definitely didn't let me down!  He's got the accent down!!

I used to have a picture of myself as my avatar on a Phillies MB but I took it down because I got a lot of propositions. Talk about weird.

Greasefan: Who is the young man on the right of Ace? I met him when I was up in New York after the Sept. 7th performance and he told me he was from Tennessee. He's a sweetheart. He said he was going home for a visit that weekend. Nice young man and I so enjoyed his performance.

They were so nice to me both times I was in New York. Great resturant too. I guess I should have gotten their e-mail addresses so I could have kept in touch with them. I'll try to get back up to New York before Ace's contract is up. I miss New York but my home is in Kentucky. It will now be my favorite vacation area and I'm sure I'll be in and out every chance I can get. I will be attending the Grease tour in Columbus and Cincinnati. At least by December I will have seen a couple of them again. I sure hope they post somewhere who all will be on the tour. Maybe Will Blum will take it on. He sure was a joy to watch and even talk to after the shows. Tennessee man!
